This month, we have chosen this lush and elegant Rowen Red Blend for our September wine of the month. It has notes on the nose of black fruits, violets, tobacco, and hints of licorice. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with smooth tannins, with medium-high acidity. Plus it has a beautifully decorated wine bottle, so The Rowen Red Blend looks equally as good as it tastes.
About the vineyard
This wine is brought to you from Rodney Strong Wine Estates at the Cooley Ranch. The ranch is the kind of landscape that Bordeaux varietals (red blend) thrive in. The vineyard sits at an elevation range of 500 to 2,040 feet above the ground. Cooley Ranch has bright red, volcanic-based soil that is sought after for its high-quality grape growing properties. They have the luxury of just having it in their backyard!
Why we chose this wine
We first tasted this immaculate red blend when we tried it with one of our wine enthusiasts, Alvaro, from Southern Glazers. When we tasted the red blend, we had four members with us and each perked up. They were very interested to learn more about what they just tasted. Since that first taste, we’ve featured the Rowen Red Blend at private events and in our Coterie Membership this September. It’s a wine that will please most palates and give you a special taste with their higher elevation vineyards in Sonoma.
